The Homeless Visitor
Today, something quite unlikely happened, ever so much considering our project. As I was leaving my apartment, my brother (who live with) called me and told me to wait 5 minutes for him to come back as he needed my help with something. When he got home he told me that the two girls that live upstairs had messaged him (as he also serves as the buildings bodyguard apparently) to say that a homeless man was sleeping in the corridor in front of their door and so they were afraid to leave.
So my brother and I went up to see what was happening. As we got to the top of the stairs, we immediately saw a man sleeping. He did not appear to be in a bad (physical) state, but when I asked him if he was okay, his eyes were opening slightly before rolling back. I tried to start a dialogue with him to understand his situation but he was not responding. Because we were unable to help him, the girls wanted to call the police.
I told them that I will do it as I wanted to make sure to tell the police from a factual basis how to man behaved rather than speaking out of fear, as these girls clearly were freaked out. I explained to both the girls and the police that he was not violent at all, that he must have gotten in our building as our front door had malfunctioned before and that he should be handled gently and with caution as he seemed intoxicated.
Took the police an hour but when they got here, they apparently were very professional, however I was not there to witness the situation.
