Royally Homeless

I came across this 9-minute video which focused on homeless people living on the streets during the time of preparations for Prince Harry and Megan Markle's wedding. During the documentary, homeless people were interviewed about their experience living in Windsor during this time

There is a guy in the clip called Martin. Martin speaks about his struggle with alcohol addiction and how much it held him back. He previously had been interviewed by the same camera crew when he was recently placed in a shelter. The change in Martin's appearance alone is concerning and just shows how much life can change and can deeply affect someone. Although it seems like society had turned a blind eye to him and was just looking to hide him to present this idealistic picture of Windsor he was still excited for the royal wedding and sent his blessings.

In the first few minutes of the clip, there was an arrogant man who interrupted the interview with one of the participants to just be arrogant. Sadly this only shows a small part of the ugly truth with homeless people have to deal with, people just thinking that they are dirty and unworthy to be in the same vicinity and have a voice amongst all of this. The participant even said, "you've got to get used to it init". That is just upsetting.

This clip just focused on how the government love to disregard voiceless in society and make them feel inferior, they continue to brush them to the side and want to paint this perfect picture of the United Kingdom as though we are all equal and being treated well when this is far from the case. Many news places and government ministers said the royal wedding was a way for bringing the UK together, to make us feel like one, but how can we feel like one when there are many just being displaced and disregarded to make way for these events that are supposed to make us united. For somewhere that is called the United Kingdom, it does not feel very united. Which makes you wonder, what is unity to them, and at what cost do they have to go through just present this false picture.
